Inside the dungeon
The Church of Saint Peter in Gallicantu (galli cantu means cock crow in Latin) commemorates Peter denying Jesus three times. In the lower level of the church is a pit where it is believed Jesus spent the night before He was crucified. Beside the church is a stepped street leading in ancient times from Mount Zion to the Kidron Valley. Jesus and His disciplel more than likely descended these stairs after the Last Supper on their way to The Garden of Gethsemane.
