Fifty days after Jesus’ death and resurrection, and ten days after His Ascension into heaven, on Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon the Apostles, Mary, and the first followers of Jesus, as they were together praying. A strong driving wind filled the room and tongues of fire rested on their heads. This first Pentecost was the birth of the Catholic Church. The “house where they were sitting” when the Holy Spirit descended upon them, probably was not the same room where the Last Supper occurred, but another in Jerusalem.
