The Lord’s Prayer

The entrance to the cave at Pater Noster

The Church of Pater Noster on the Mount of Olives, tradition holds, is where Jesus taught his disciples The Lord’s Prayer, in a cave that forms a grotto, underneath the church. On the church walls and vaulted cloister are large ceramic plaques with The Lord’s Prayer translated into 140 languages.

Matthew 6: 7-14, Luke 11: 1-4

Lyrics

We believe in a mysterious God
Yet we read His word written down in a book

We believe in an invisible God
Yet we worship Him under the species of bread

We believe in a God who is totally unlike us
Yet we know His name
And we know he is our Father

Our Father who are in Heaven Hallowed be thy name

The kingdom come thy will be done

On earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil amen

We believe in a mysterious God
Yet we read His word written down in a book

We believe in an invisible God
Yet we worship Him under the species of bread

We believe in a God who is totally unlike us
Yet we know His name
And we know he is our Father
